Medical Students to Learn at La Clinica in Medford

Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon (AHECSW), Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and La Clinica have launched a partnership to bring third-year medical students to southern Oregon for five-week clinical rotations.
Jason Bahk, a Portland-area resident, is the first student in the program and started his rotation on June 27, 2011 at La Clinica with Dr. Ken Rhee. Third year medical students are on rotation with local physicians for a five-week period of time gaining experience in a variety of settings, working with both staff at La Clinica and partnering agencies, living in a rural community and enjoying the rural lifestyle.

The program will bring five students to La Clinica health centers for this academic year and live in housing provided by La Clinica. The partnership is aimed both at improving La Clinica's ability to recruit physicians and at strengthening the clinical experience of the students in the hope their experience will return them to a rural community.
