Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon sponsors and arranges for clinical experiences for third-year medical students in rural settings by:
- Assigning each Medical Student to work with a practicing doctor who acts as her/his mentor/ preceptor
- Providing a 5-week rotation per student per clinic
- Matching students with clinics and housing through the OHSU Rural Community Health Clerkship program
- Funding housing and travel for the medical students
- Collaborating with OHSU to provide the best experience possible
