Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of Southwest Oregon's 2nd annual Healthcare Career Day was held at the Medford Armory on October 12. Over 120 students from Jackson and Josephine County attended the event. Students were exposed to four interactive scenarios based on a forest service helicopter crash. The scenarios included the pre-hospital ambulance and National Guard, the Trauma Team Response in the Emergency Room, The Critical Care/Trauma Unit, and the Post-Hospital Care for the patient and the health professionals involved with each of these scenes. Students were also able to visit many booths, among which included schools, hospitals, long-term care centers, Mercy Flights and global health.
Collaborating with AHEC on this event were Abdill Career College, Asante Health System, Mercy Flights, Oregon Health & Science University - School of Nursing, Oregon Institute of Technology, Providence Medford Medical Center, Rogue Community College, Rogue Valley Manor, and Southern Oregon University.
