First Responders

1st Responders Course at Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction, OR A new venture!

Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon, in collaboration with Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, and Century 21 at Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction, conducted a pilot 1st Responder Course during the Spring 2008 trimester.

The course was delivered through the V-Tel system (live, two-way audio and video, via the internet). The instructor was in Grants Pass and the students were in Cave Junction. There were nine participants in this pioneer program. Seven of the students were full-time high school students and two were adult members of the community.

AHEC plans to use this system of delivery in additional communities and to expand course offerings in the future.

2009 SITES
First Responder courses are planned to begin in January 2009 in Glendale, Applegate and Reedsport.
