Ricky currently lives in Portland. He has served previous clerkships in surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, plastic surgery, family medicine, and OB/GYN.
When asked what he would like to accomplish on this rural rotation, Ricky stated, "gain an appreciation for the practice of primary care in the setting of limited resources; gain a higher understanding of triaging patients to determine transfer to centers with higher levels of care; and develop a stronger foundation of primary care medicine".
Outside of medicine, Ricky enjoys piano, guitar, drums, music production, basketball and lacrosse.

Morgan currently lives in Portland. He has served previous clerkships in surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, psychiatry, radiology, internal medicine and OB/GYN.
When asked what he would like to accomplish on this rural rotation, Morgan stated, "exposure to healthcare in the rural setting from the perspective of a provider; a chance to become part of a rural community again (I was raised in Union, OR); and improve my clinical skills and my confidence in my clinical decision-making capacities".
Outside of medicine, Morgan enjoys reading, exercise, basketball, football, nutrition, and watching TV shows with his girlfriend.

Will currently lives in Portland. He has served previous clerkships in family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and psychiatry.
When asked what he would like to accomplish on this rural rotation, Will stated, "urgent care experience; direct care experience; observing/partitipating in quality care; and FUN!
Outside of medicine, Will enjoys computers, motorcycles, bicycling, swimming, running, weight training, hiking, crabbing, road trips, cooking, Japanese culture/language and camping.
Third year medical students are sponsored by Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon (AHECSW) and La Clinica. AHECSW provides a stipend for gas for the students while they are serving their 5-week rotation in Cottage Grove.

Leah currently lives in Portland. She has served previous clerkships in psychiatry, surgery, medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics and hematology/oncology.
When asked what she wanted to get out of this rural rotation, Leah stated, "hands-on practical skills, like suturing, IV placement, assisting in surgery, etc.; a sense of whether or not rural practice would be suitable for my life in the future; and experience in seeing the full spectrum of primary care practice in a lower-resource environment".
Outside of medicine, Leah enjoys live music, theater, and performance, as well as the New York Times Sunday Crossword puzzle and dime-store murder mystery novels.

Emily Hanson is an Oregon Health & Science University medical student on rotation at La Clinica in Medford.
Emily currently lives in Medford. She has already served previous clerkships in surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, and OB/GYN.
When asked what she would like to accomplish on this rural rotation, Emily stated, "Experience the community of Medford in the context of serving in the community - I've only lived there in the role of a student; refine patient communication and provision of resources to meet their needs; and learn as much as I can from whomever is willing to teach the most. Sometimes that means patients, and sometimes that means different types of providers, as long as it pertains to making me a better doctor".
Outside of medicine, Emily enjoys rock-climbing, rafting the Rogue, running, horseback riding, reading and hiking.

is an Oregon Health & Science University third year medical student on rotation at Dunes Family Health Care with Dr. Jianming Song.
Abbey currently lives in Portland. She has already served previous clerkships in general surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, psychiatry, dermatology elective, internal medicine, and OB/GYN.
When asked what she would like to accomplish on this rural rotation, Abbey stated, "improved ability to manage chronic illness as well as pre-op, operative, and post-op care; proficiency in delivering care in communities of limited resources; and solidify the experiences and knowledge of the individual clerkships through which I have already spent time and unify them in the setting of a rural community".
Outside of medicine, Abbey is an avid runner, snow and water skier. She enjoys cooking, dinner parties and playing board games. Her college major was in Humanities and historically she has enjoyed reading. Abbey is also learning to fly the Cessna 172.
